- 1960: Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NYPO/NPO) celebrated Mahler’s music during the centenary of his Gustav Mahler (1860-1911)‘s birth in 1960 with a Carnegie Hall festival during which Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990), Bruno Walter (1876-1962) and Dimitri Mitropoulos (1896-1960) conducted his music. 31-12-1959 until 24-04-1960. - 1976: Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NYPO/NPO) celebrated Mahler again in September and October 1976. Pierre Boulez, James Levine, and Eric Leinsdorf were the conductors for the complete Mahler symphony cycle that season. 26-09-1976 until 25-10-1976. Program.
