The park’s central element is the statue of Gustav Mahler by academic sculptor Jan Koblasa. It is surrounded by stone sculptures of birds and fish symbolizing Mahler’s musical compositions, concretely, the lyrics to his works. Also symbolic are ten water fountains near the lake that correspond to the number of Mahler’s symphonies. The area surrounding the statue and sculptures is landscaped into meadows. The leitmotif of the park’s architectural composition is the contrast between the countryside, with its lake, grassland, shrubbery, and trees, and the nearby town with its plain materials, austere forms, houses, and stone elements.

The park’s landscaping also recalls the footprints that history has left in these places – the castle’s bailey, the remnants of the now-demolished municipal fortification wall (the former foundations) paved with stone], and the exposed foundations of the synagogue burned to the ground by the Nazis. Park conception and sculptures: Jan Koblasa. Opened 07-07-2010 at 150th anniversary birthday of Gustav Mahler.
