The Beijing Music Festival is a major cultural event in China, bringing together the finest musicians in the country to celebrate music in many forms. Foreign musicians are also invited and this year the honor of attending as an overseas ensemble was accorded the Mahler Foundation Festival Orchestra!

We speaking with Shuang Zou, the Artistic Director of the Beijing Music Festival,
about the programming and about what inspired her to invite the Mahler Foundation Festival Orchestra. Joining her is Martin Campbell-White, Chairman of Mahler Foundation, who played a key role in bringing all of this together.

John Warner, conductor of the Mahler Foundation Festival Orchestra, talks in detail what the orchestra presented and how he designed the program to reflect the legacy and compositions of Gustav Mahler.

We also hear from Zhenyan Li, a composer commissioned to write a work for one of the concerts; she shares her experiences and inspiration.
