We opened the third season of The Mahler Hour with a live broadcast from
Paris to show you the private archive of the great Mahler biographer, Henry-Louis de La Grange.

La Grange dedicated his life’s work to the composer and over the years amassed an extensive collection of manuscripts, books, recordings, and precious objects.

Today, La Grange’s former home has been turned into a library with a study
room, a small performance space, as well as storage and preservation facilities.

We meet the chief archivist, Gabriela Elgarrista and discussed Henry-Louis de La Grange’s legacy with Vincent Mouret.

We have turned into manuscripts in Mahler’s hand with musicologist Anna Stoll-Knecht and conductor Benjamin Garzia, research associates of the collection who explained the impact of these musical documents on our understanding of the composer.

This was an entirely unique edition of The Mahler Hour!

Join us as we remember a giant in the field of Mahler research and show you
some of his priceless treasures.
